The graduate admissions process at the University of South Carolina is a joint effort between The Graduate School
and the academic units. Individual departments retain the right to require additional materials as part of the application
process. You are strongly encouraged to contact the Graduate Director of the department to which you will apply before
beginning the application process.
After you apply, a Program Coordinator (from "The Graduate School") will receive your information, process it, and transmit
this information to the Graduate Director of the program in which you applied. The Graduate Director and program Admissions
Committee evaluate your application to assess qualifications and coordinate admissions recommendations and financial assistance.
Due to the large number of applications processed at the Graduate School, the applicant is ultimately responsible for
the progression of his/her application. You can check the status of your application using the link on the right
side of this page. If you still have questions, locate your program and contact the
administrative or graduate director. Once you have been accepted, in order to become a teaching asstant, you must attend
training. More information about this training can be found at the TA Training Page.
