Mentoring and Professional Development Resources
The University of South Carolina should initiate a process to establish
'Best Practices for Graduate Education'.
These best practices should address the mutual and reciprocal responsibilities and expectations of graduate students,
major professors / advisors, graduate directors, program faculty, and the Graduate School.
This process should include the participation of graduate students, graduate directors, graduate faculty from several disciplines
within the Graduate School, and the Graduate Council.
These 'Best Practices for Graduate Education' should define for the University of South Carolina
a shared consensus of quality mentoring and effective professional development to ensure that our graduate students
have the best preparation to succeed after they earn their degree.
The list below contains a collection of resources from other universities and professional organizations that may contribute to our process.
